“I wish I knew (The words to make you happy)” is about the feeling of isolation when a wall has been thrown up between you and your partner and you no longer know how to talk to them. There is so much you want to say and yet you’ve already grown too far apart to say any of it - you can’t bridge the gap. The song is about sleepless nights, unlit birthday candles and the breathless moment before it all comes crashing down, when you know the relationship is over, but you still foolishly hope to save it.”
